Applies To: ■ PoliteMail Desktop □ PoliteMail Online □ PoliteMail M365
Version: □ 5.0 □ 5.1 □ 5.2 ■ 5.3+
In versions of PoliteMail prior to version 5.3, PoliteMail will fall back to the main From address if Outlook is unable to retrieve the SMTP address of the From that was selected. Note that this is a a rare occurrence; the message will also still be sent, but from the primary From address.
Starting with version 5.3 of PoliteMail, PoliteMail retrieves the SMTP address of the selected From mailbox from Outlook’s compose inspector. If Outlook cannot resolve the SMTP address, the send operation will be cancelled and you’ll see an error notification stating that the specified From address could not be retrieved. The message will not fall back to your default PoliteMail mailbox; you must select a valid From address before retrying.
Note: If you are using Outlook 2016 and you cannot see your “From” address in your email message window, go to your Options tab and click on the “From” in the Show Fields section of the ribbon.
