Because .svg files also contain some xml, they are currently blocked by PoliteMail's Content Security Policy (CSP), which is designed to protect your messages from unsafe code.
PoliteMail is currently working a solution that still provides full protection for your content. In the meantime, you can easily convert .svg files to .png files using many free online converters, such as this one.
