PoliteMail is designed with automatic list expansion, which means that the application will take your distribution lists, as well as any individually entered email addresses in the To field, and send the message to each individual recipient as if it was sent just to them. Other recipients, or the distribution list name, will not display.
- The CC field, in typical email practice, is used when you're "looping someone in" as a heads up, but you do not need a response. Because PoliteMail sends messages individually, the CC field is unnecessary as anyone in the CC field will not see the To field, and vice versa.
Do not put all recipients in the CC field as this will show the To field as completely blank when opened; this is true if you are part of the CC field as well. As a best practice, use only the To: field.
- The BCC field should NOT be used; list expansion not only makes it unnecessary, but using both BCC and list expansion can potentially cause delivery issues (in PoliteMail Online, the BCC field is minimized by default to prevent this).
Want recipients to see who else is receiving the Message?
If for some reason you WANT a recipient to see the names of everyone else who is also receiving the message, you will need to change your Measurement Mode to Aggregate and send via the Outbox rather than Graph or the PoliteMail server. This means you will need to send from Classic or New Outlook and not PoliteMail Online, since PMO allows you to send only either via the PoliteMail server or Graph.
