What are the system requirements for PoliteMail?

Hardware Requirements

SaaS / Cloud

With SaaS deployment, PoliteMail provides and maintains IIS and SQL server environments as well as a dedicated SMTP IP.  

  • Provide a Graph app key
  • Trust the PoliteMail SMTP server with the M365 Connector. 
BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud)

With a BYOC deployment, you host the Windows IIS App server and database instance on your own Azure or AWS setup.  PoliteMail will provide automated upgrade scripts, while you are responsible for OS patching.

  • Azure or AWS Account, with VM or containerized Windows Server Images and SQL Server or Azure SQL backend.

On-Premises

On-premise installations of PoliteMail require your team to house and maintain Windows IIS server VMs, a SQL server connection, branded hostname with public authority, a Graph app key, and to set up the trust of the PoliteMail SMTP server with the M365 connector.

Server software is required for self-service installation but is included with Cloud services.

  • Exchange Server 2013+ and Exchange Online
  • Windows Server 2016+ with IIS
  • SQL Server 2018+

Configuration Requirements

365 Integration (all interfaces)

  • SSO with Entra ID (or any OID/SAML2 IDP)
  • Creation of PoliteMail Users group and roles
  • PoliteMail App registration with a set of read only M365 Graph API permissions
  • For distributions >10k: Graph Application Registration and permissions, SMTP endpoint/connector

PoliteMail Unified App: (Teams Admin or Global M365 Admin)

  • Upload of JSON manifest to M365
  • M365 Outlook (including Outlook Online and Outlook Desktop)

PoliteMail Online:

  • Any up-to-date web browser including Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. 

PoliteMail for classic Outlook (COM Add-in): (Systems Admin)

  • Install PoliteMail for Outlook (setup.exe or setup.msi)
  • Outlook 2019+ for Windows Desktop  (including Outlook Online and Outlook Desktop)
